Missing "temp" FolderIf the setup program requests an additional disk or is unable to find certain files, you may have a problem with the "temp" folder on your computer. This folder is designated by Windows for the storage of temporary files, such as the HydroCAD installation files. Work-around: Click the "browse" button (in the setup error screen) and navigate to the folder c:\windows\temp\$INFTool.tmp. This should allow the setup program to complete normally. If the $INFTool.tmp folder doesn't exist (or the installation still reports missing files), you have a missing or incorrect temporary folder. To check the temp folder: Go to a command prompt (DOS prompt) and type set. You should see a line beginning with "temp=" such as this: temp=c:\windows\temp If the temp line is missing (or it points to a non-existent folder) you must edit your autoexec.bat file as described below. Permanent fix: Change the autoexec.bat
file to identify the correct temporary folder: Other IssuesIn some cases the TEMP setting may be ignored, causing a different temporary location to be used. If this is a protected folder (such as \windows\system32) the temporary files may be missing or misnamed. (Windows 2000 has been observed to rename the files, placing an additional letter at the start of each file name.) Solution: Change the set temp= line as described above, so that it points to a "temp" folder on your boot drive, such as c:\windows\temp. (Setting temp to other drives may cause the setting to be ignored.)
