HydroCAD & Windows Vista

HydroCAD has been carefully designed according to Microsoft and industry standards so that a single program can be used on all versions of Windows, including Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2K, XP, and Vista.  See the hardware requirements for details.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has made a number of changes with Vista that makes it less than 100% compatible with previous versions of Windows.  To run HydroCAD please note:

1) If you choose to install from the download, you may need to rename the file to "setup.exe" before doing the installation.  (No special steps are required if you install from the HydroCAD installation CD or use the latest download.  These files are already called setup.exe.)

2) To use the HydroCAD help system with Vista, you must install the 32-bit help system from Microsoft.  Unfortunately, this is not included on the Vista CD, and Microsoft prohibits others from distributing the file.  Hopefully this short-sighted decision will be corrected with a future Vista service pack.
